holy shit what a great idea!

Nice game! It reminds me of Bacon Escape for mobile or Nitrome's Onekey.

I like this game, but I love the background music track.

So fun 😊

Time 6:12

Resets  9

Letters 8/13

Glad you had fun! Sweet score!

Nice! 100% in 9 minutes :)

Great score! :D

I am in love with the newer version
its a bit more challenging and has more mechanics to experiment with
and it also has harder letters to get
(it has some cheese spots but its alright)
ftoywdk: cheese means a place where you can skip/break a mechanic or level and completely not do a required section of the game or intended mechanic

Nice! Glad you you had some fun... I've considered working on a "full" release for steam, maybe someday!

14 resets for 13 letters
8:17
(some of the 8:17 was lag so its probably like around 7:30)

Sweet score! Sorry it got laggy on you.

its probably just my laptop not being able to handle anything but overall i love these types of games
hope to see more

Check out retrocasual.com I have some extra levels on a partner's site.

Thanks! I'm just going to assume your partner is coolmathgames.com by the way. (great way to make your game popular because not all small kids know about itch.io yet)

found some funny lil bugs when there is a lag spike

Stop, dont do that lol

this was really fun

Thanks, glad you had some fun!

idk if box is work

That's a bug. 😞

It's actually fixed in the update. There's a link to the new update on my website http://retrocasual.com.

Finish in 2min24! Very fun game, playing with physics is always one of my favorite game mechanics!

Great time! Glad you had some fun! Thanks for playing!

Huh, some nice idea and mechanics in here!

Sounds broken... Most likely, sir. I'll bet it was something nice though!

(+1)

Thanks! Yeah, whatever is in that box is definitely broken lol

What a scrumptious little treat of a game. This is the first of your projects I've stumbled upon, and I can't wait to play the rest!

(+1)

Thanks! If you like platformers take a look at Below The Ocean, Toy Cavers, Zolf, and Hazmat Magic!

finished it in 5min17!

That's a good time! Thanks for playing!

Just got here from the museum of screens!

Cool, what's "museum of screens"?

It's this game right here: https://toulou.itch.io/museum-of-screens
I found yours in it!

That's pretty cool! I managed to find it too! Thanks for sharing!

So this is what happened to the monitor I ordered from Amazon...

In all seriousness, this is great, haha

Took a few bumps along the way, no worries the box is mostly Styrofoam lol

Thanks for playing!

This is the best game!!! This needs to be a mobile game or a full steam game! Simple concept, simple game play and mechanics. It really just needs more levels!

Thanks! I'd love to build more, someday.

This is really so much fun! Great job. Had me wanting more. Really good stuff.

Thanks! Glad you had fun. I may expand on it someday.

Oh please do, that would be grand!

most fun game I ever played

Ever?! Thats insane! Thanks! Glad you had fun!

Of course it would be fun. I knew it would be good as soon as I saw Ismael Rodriguez :) You just 'get it'.

Thanks! I mostly just try to make games that don't annoy me lol

I don't really understand what to do

Hi, it's possible your box fell into an immovable position to begin the game (unintended consequence of changing things in the last minute of a game jam. The Jam has long been over, but I've been busy with other projects).

If the box is in the middle of the floor, the pistons cant hit it, so you'll need to press the R key to reset the box.

Inspiring game!

Thanks! :)

Great game! Really creative! I don't understand what is the letter for, but guess it is only for bonus points, right?

Thanks! Yeah the letters are an optional challenge.

From art style to the music, this game is the best!

THANKS :)  You're the best!

I loved it!

Thanks! Happy you loved it ^_^

i love this the simple controls and pleasing visuals make for a very enjoyable experience :3

Thanks! Happy to hear you enjoyed my game :)

This was super fun to play, there are some little bits that would need to be improved next iteration, some of the levels pass to fast, not letting me to make a plan, sometimes it felt like I was against time.
Congratulation on a very solid entry for LDJam, I had really really much fun playing, the music was super awesome and also the graphics gave me really great retro vibes. It really felt like I was a kid again playing Crystal Caves for my first time. Thank you for those feelings!

Thanks! Kinda crazy I tapped into your nostalgia haha! Love that! I got a lot of feedback regarding that 1 room where you're blown away from the letter before you know it exists, that was kind of the point, a sort of troll design that forces you to play more than once if you're a completionist. I think it's fine, because the letters are totally optional, but I can see why some folks don't like it lol. Thanks again for your feedback, glad you had some fun!

Hi! Very fun game, I enjoyed it so much :D <3

Thanks! Happy to hear you had fun!

Amazing game with unique mechanics. Thank you!

Thank YOU :)

Hi! We played your game on stream and really enjoyed it!

SO COOL! Thanks for sharing, glad yall had fun!

Really great game and concept! I can see it easily expanded into a longer game.
A teeny tiny quality-of-life change I'd suggest is making the screen close simultaneous to the box explosion, it takes just a little bit longer than necessary to restart the level right now. Great job on the game!

Thanks for your feedback! A few others have asked for respawns to speed up too, if I make it back around to this project, I'll def keep that in mind. Thanks again!

Very fun! Can you explain how did the box? Is it low res 3D or sprites? I don't understand how collision work so good. Do you add some rotation on the third axis with every push on the box, or is it coming from physics itself?

Thanks! Happy you had fun. The box is just 2d sprites in 3d space. The physics are unity 2D, but each face of the box has its own square 2d collider, it just turns out that the rotations on 2d colliders still work. There is some added rotation based on the box's velocity. You may notice the extra boxes at the end don't spin the same way the player box does. Thanks again!

Excellent game, would love to see a full-length game with this concept!

(1 edit)

Thanks! A full game could be cool. It turns out something like this already exists; "I Am Level"... I'm sure my take would be different tho. Thanks again!

Very fun short game, thank you!

Thank you! Glad you had some fun!

vay mına koyim, çok iyi

Thank you!

Such a seemingly simple yet interesting concept. Love the art too!

Thanks! :)

As always, great stuff!

Thanks! :)

Love it! Quick question, how do you make your character controller or more generally, how do you handle physics? Collision detection of player for example or how bullets hit walls. Thanks!

Thanks! Happy you love it!! The physics are just Unity's built in physics. "OnTriggerEnter2D" and such for most things. I guess 1 weird thing I did was increased the timeScale to 1.5 (or something like that) to fine-tune the speeds. It's actually the first time I've done that though. Thanks again.

Really fun and inspiring how far you took a simple concept. This has been one of my favorite games to play from this jam. Fantastic job

Thanks! Glad you had fun! ^_^
